Instructor Samuel Birhanu has been selected as the sole international referee representing Ethiopia in the Africa Athletics tournament.

Samuel Birhanu serves as the director of the Ethiopia Athletics Federations Study and Research Institute. His extensive experience and expertise have earned him a silver-level referee certification, making him a standout figure in the field. He is currently the only Ethiopian referee at this prestigious level, a testament to his hard work and determination.

Throughout his career, Samuel has officiated at various continental tournaments, including significant events in Morocco, Nigeria, Zambia, and Tanzania.

Previously, Assefa Bekele, another prominent figure in Ethiopian athletics, held a decree to work on major tournaments, paving the way for talented referees like Samuel to step into the spotlight.
