Tsige Duguma Sets Record in Shanghai Diamond League

Ethiopian athlete Tsige Duguma won the women’s 800m race at the Shanghai Diamond League with a record-breaking time of 1.56.64.

Her compatriots, Nigist Getachew and Habtam Alemu, finished in 6th and 8th place, respectively. Notably, all athletes who placed within the top eight completed the race in under two minutes.

Freweyni Hailu Wins Short-Distance Race at Grand Slam Meeting

At the Grand Slam Meeting in Miami, Ethiopian athlete Freweyni Hailu triumphed in the short-distance competition, while long-distance runner Hirut Meshesha secured second place overall.

Freweyni earned 6 points for her third-place finish in the 800m before claiming first place in the 1500m, bringing her total to 18 points and sealing her victory in the short-distance category.

Another Ethiopian athlete, Driba Welteji, finished fourth overall.

Long-distance runner Hirut Meshesha delivered an outstanding performance, winning the 3000m with a personal best time of 8:22.72. Despite placing third in the 5000m, she tied with her Kenyan rival at 18 points, securing second place overall.

Meanwhile, Medina Eisa took second place in both the 5000m and 3000m, earning 16 points and finishing third overall.

Ethiopian Athletes Triumph at Prague Marathon

At the Prague Marathon in the Czech Republic, Ethiopian runners dominated both the men’s and women’s races.

  • Men’s Marathon: Lemi Berhanu claimed victory with a time of 2:05:14.
  • Women’s Marathon: Birtukan Woldie secured first place with a time of 2:20:55.
