
The Ethiopian Athletics Federation will hold the 18th Ethiopian Half Marathon, showcasing 535 athletes from multiple regions and clubs.
The Ethiopian Athletics Federation has finalized its preparations for the 18th Ethiopian Half Marathon, which is set to occur on June 8, 2025, at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa.
Key officials, including Mr. Yohannes Engida, head of the Federation’s office; Mr. Asfaw Dagne, the director of competition and participation; and Mr. Mehari Negash, the communication expert, held a detailed media briefing about the upcoming event.
The championship will see participation from three regions and city administrators, alongside 21 clubs, with a total of 535 athletes, including 156 women and 389 men.
The competition aims to provide opportunities for regions, city administrations, clubs, and athletes to take part in road running events, improve the competitive experience in the country, and support amateur athletes. It also strives to cultivate a positive competitive environment among regions, city administrations, and clubs, and to honor athletes who excel in the competition with awards.
In the 2024 Addis Ababa Ethiopian Half Marathon Championships, Getaneh MOLLA won the men’s title, while Betesfa GETAHUN finished in second place. In the same competition, Meket Gemeda won the women’s title. who excel in the competition with awards.
