The Ethiopian Athletics Championship has officially kicked off in the vibrant city of Addis Ababa. The event showcases the nation’s finest talents in a thrilling display of athleticism. This prestigious event features a diverse range of competitions. These include short and middle-distance races, as well as the challenging 3000-meter steeplechase. According to the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, the championship also incorporates race walking and various field events.
In the long jump competition, Poch Umoud from Nigid Bank soared to victory with an impressive leap of 5.95 meters. Close behind, Aryat David, also representing Nigid Bank, secured second place with a commendable jump of 5.87 meters. Rounding out the podium, Aster Tolossa showcased her talent with a jump of 5.77 meters, earning her third place.
The athletes were presented with their awards by the newly appointed President of the Ethiopian Athletics Federation, Sileshi Sihen, who is a former athlete with years of success.
The competition will continue tomorrow with a host of events including short-distance races and shot put throw.
