The Ethiopian Athletics Federation is getting ready to host its annual assembly next month in Addis Ababa. During the meeting a new president and members of Executive Committee are expected to get elected. These individuals will have the responsibility of leading the country’s athletics for the next four years. 

Former Athletes Sileshi Sehen from Oromia and Gebreegziabher Gebremariam from Tigray are among the candidates for the role of President. Yayeh Addisu from Amhara, Getu Geremew from Diredawa, and Dube Jillo from Addis Ababa complete the list of nominees. 

The Ethiopian Athletics Federation has come under heavy criticism following the poor result in the Paris 2024 Olympics. It has been suggested that new faces are needed to lead Ethiopia’s resurgence in Athletics.
